This year's PMA show ended yesterday after a 4-day run. From the two weeks leading up to the event we saw a flood of new camera announcements as well as new and interesting accessories from many smaller companies hoping to catch the attention of the consumer as well as retailers. PhotoTLC Partners with Lucidom to Offer Retailers an All-In-One Photo Gift and Restoration Service

Take Photographs In the Rain with Popabrella
At PMA this week, a new product surfaced that just seemed to make a lot of sense. The product is called "Popabrella" and is essentially a tiny umbrella for your digital camera. The umbrella tilts, slides up or down, and can be adjusted side to side for 360° coverage from Rain, Snow, and Sun Glare. This patent pending product will fit all 35mm, digital, and video cameras that have a tripod socket -- and it can also be mounted to a tripod.
Fujifilm Announces Price Drop on FinePix S3 Pro Digital SLR
Fujifilm U.S.A today announced that they have lowered the price of their professional digital SLR, the FinePix S3 Pro. The new price of $1699.00 also includes two accessories that previously were optional; The AC Adapter is now included as is the HS-V2 Hyper Utility Software. The Fuji FinePix S3 Pro is a 12-megapixel DSLR and features Fuji's exclusive Super CCD SR technology and dual (Firewire & USB 2.0) high-speed transfer data ports.
Complete Photo Protection Finally Here, Broadband to Fulfill Its Promise

PMA Podcasts from What Digital Camera!
WDC (What Digital Camera) has just started a new podcast service, which you can listen to via the website or download for later listening on your PC or iPod. Using this week's PMA show in Orlando, Florida as a launch vehicle, the Podcasts are conducted by WDC Editor Nigel Atherton and Technical Editor Jamie Harrison. The first podcasts will be discussing the new products and other highlights from PMA, and can be found under the Podcasts button at the top of the navigation menu (left). New podcasts will be added on a regular basis, so keep checking back.

The only thing left out seems to be an optical zoom.
In my mind, this IS the future of consumer photography. Phones and cameras go perfectly together. The combination of camera and phone allows easy upload, emailing, and sharing of pictures while also providing consumers with a guarantee that they'll always have their camera with them, wherever they are. Sony has even integrated picture blogging, powered by blogger, allowing users to create and update personal blogs directly from the phone in just a few clicks.
