The 2008 CES Show will be celebrating its 41st birthday this year.
CES is the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow with 2,700 exhibitors covering 1.6 million square feet of exhibit
space in Las Vegas.
As digital cameras have become mainstream with consumers, more and more camera and C.E. manufacturers are using CES as their
launchpad for many of their yearly introductions, though many of the bigger announcements often stay hush until the Photo
Marketing Association trade show, scheduled for late February into early March. Cameratown will be providing up to the minute news
coverage of CES 2008, bringing you a focused selection of new product releases and articles from the world of photography and
imaging.

Eye-Fi Wireless Photo Delivery to Support iPhoto, Safari, and Leopard

FotoNation Demonstrates "Smilecheck™" Technology for Digital Cameras and Camera Phones
January 15,2008 -- Fotonation announced today the availability of licensing for "SmileCheck," a new technology to detect smiles in portrait photos taken by digital cameras and camera phones. The new technology is being debuted at the 2008 Photo Marketing Association (PMA) Convention, held this week from January 31-February 2, 2008 in Las Vegas. SmileCheck enables a new type of picture taking mode called "Smile Shutter" in digital cameras. Once the camera's trigger button is depressed, the shutter is not engaged until smiles are detected on all faces within the frame, ensuring photos with all smiles.
