PMA @ CES 2012 Show Coverage
Welcome to Cameratown's PMA 2012 Trade show Coverage @ CES in Las Vegas. Cameratown's PMA / CES Show page covers both show and pre-show announcements as well as
video coverage of some hot photo / video related products from the show floor. The show ran from January 10-12th, 2012 and over 140,000 attendees flooded the
aisles in each of the halls of the convention center.
Photography gear was scattered all over the show with many traditional PMA booths taking up space at the Venetian Hotel, while other companies opted for a booth
in one of the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVVC). 50 cent, Justin Bieber, and other stars were on hand to help launch new products - while the products
themselves seemed to struggle from a case of deja-vu. With thousands of products on display it was a shame to see very little in the way of real innovation. There
were a few standouts, but very few. One of the more interesting camera-related products is the soon-to-be-released Tamaggo 360 Camera. This egg shaped camera will
capture a full 14-megapixel 360-degree panorama photo all-at-once with the press of a button. No spinning motors, no mirrors, just a specially designed 360-degree lens
that will allow you to truly capture the world around you - quickly and inexpensively. The Tamaggo 360 will be price at $199 when it arrives in stores sometime in March.
Take a look at our other highlighted videos from the show floor to catch up on some of the products that we found hot and noteworthy.

PMA / CES 2012 Product Announcements
Nikon D4 Full-Frame DSLR Introduction
Nikon's D4 is the first Nikon camera to challenge the Canon EOS 5D Mark II for dominance in HDSLR full-frame video. Nikon scrapped all previous ideas of how to poorly integrated video into a DSLR
and finally delivered a product that has killer specifications and superior low-light sensitivity. I can't wait to get my hands on this camera for a full review. Watch our video below, where Nikon's
Lindsay Silverman shares information on this hot new DSLR.
Habbycam Studio Rig Introduction
The Habbycam Studio Rig is a new HDSLR cinematography / video rig that promises professional features at a consumer price. At $299 this rig will offer 15mm rods, cheese plate for easy side-mounting of lights,
microphones, and extra batteries, while a matte box with 2 filter holders will help users control light.
Tamaggo 360 Camera Introduction
The Tamaggo 360 camera is a tiny, egg-shaped camera designed to take a complete 360-degree photograph with just one click. You'll know longer have to stand there aligning multiple images, spending time combining
them in panorama software, or worry that the person who was just in one frame has no walked into another frame as you take picture after picture. This 14-megapixel camera even features a built-in stand that when
flipped into position, will automatically activate the camera's self-timer feature - allowing you to get into the 360 image.
Re-Play XD Sports / Action POV Camera Introduction
What sets the Replay XD helmet camera apart from the others is their rock solid mounts. These mounts, combined with their 1080p HD video recording ability, will give you professional quality video with reduced
jello-effect often seen with other POV cameras. The camera is tiny, rotates 360-degrees for precise framing at any angle, and features a live HDMI output for setting up your shots or to stream the footage using
optional HDMI wireless gear to clients or others. This is a growing market but the quality of Replay XD's camera and mounts make it one to seriously consider.
Tiffen Steadicam Merlin 2 Introduction
I have been using a Steadicam for over 20 years. Originally shooting with the Steadicam JR back in the 80's and more recently using the Steadicam Merlin on commercial shoots and wedding films. Thew new Steadicam
Merlin 2 was designed to be more rigid and to handle more weight. A new plate will hold your camera more securely, a new folding caliber will allow the camera to be unfolded without re-adjustments, and new 1/4-20
threads were designed stronger in order to support more weights. These weights will allow the Steadicam Merlin 2 to support cameras up to 5 lbs. A new optional handle with integrated "Merlin Camera Controller" will
allow camera users to start & stop video recording without taking their hand of the handle. Our video below has Steadicam Inventor, Garrett Brown, giving an overview of the new Merlin 2. Our audio from his lapel
microphone was not able to be used due to a technical issue, so please accept my apology as you watch this segment.
