Lensbaby Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 7.20 (out of 10)
Looking for the perfect gift for the digital-SLR camera owner who's tired of incredibly sharp photos? No, no, we're serious. Today's digital SLRs can produce tack-sharp images, but that's not always what you want or need. For years, photographers have turned for creative inspiration to toy cameras like the Diana, Holga, and Lomo that produce slightly blurry, ethereal photos with their cheap plastic lenses. (You can see some great examples at the Toy Camera Ring.) Now you can produce similar images with much greater control, with the Lensbaby lens for popular digital and film SLRs.

A Lensbaby is a camera lens. Let's get that part straight. It mounts on your camera like any other lens. So you're thinking, "Okay, that's just more gear." But wait, now comes the clincher. It's a lens all right but not JUST a lens. Nor is it like any other camera lens on the market. It's a lens that REQUIRES craftsmanship to operate. And that's why David would like it. That's why I like it. And that's why you'll like it too.
