Fuji FinePix F810 Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 9.00 (out of 10)
The FinePix F810 Zoom was announced worldwide at the end of July 2004, though it was only made available to customers in North America very recently. The F810 is essentially the same camera as the F700/710 with a different sensor. Whereas the F700/710 cameras used the new Super CCD SR technology found in the upcoming FinePix S3 PRO DSLR, the F810's sensor is the fourth generation of the now well-established Super CCD technology, offering 12.3MP output from 6.3 million effective pixels. Like the F700/710 the new camera offers a 4x optical zoom (32.5-130mm equiv.), widescreen (16:9) LCD and shooting mode, fast operation and a fairly comprehensive array of manual controls in a compact, traditionally-styled all-metal body.

The Fujifilm FinePix F810 is a very intuitive and well designed compact digital camera that will please both beginners and more advanced photographers alike. The The Fujifilm FinePix F810 has a full range of creative photographic options that will allow you take more control as your experience increases - its refreshing to see this on a compact digicam. In addition the Fujifilm FinePix F810 is one of the most responsive digital cameras that I have reviewed, outdoors and indoors, and is well-suited to capturing both static subjects and more fast-moving subjects such as your children or sports photography.

There are three things that are part of the first impression made by the Fujifilm F810: its elongated shape, its wide screen LCD, and the speed at which it is ready to shoot after being turned on (around 1 second). The body of the F810, more than twice as long as it is high, is covered entirely in silver metal, giving it a solid feel and a substantial weight.

Once in a while a camera manufacturer will come up with an idea that's so clever that you can't help wondering why nobody thought of it before. Many people now have widescreen televisions, and the advantages of the 16:9 format are well known, so perhaps it was only a matter of time before someone put a widescreen LCD monitor on the back of a digital camera. Fujifilm has done this with the F810 and it works a treat.
