Samsung Digimax V50 Review
|
|
Review Summary
Reader Score: 8.50 (out of 10)
The Samsung Digimax V50 is a great example of a camera that sounds great after reading the spec sheet that turns out to be a disappointment after start using it. With a 5 Megapixel CCD, large rotating LCD, manual controls, VGA movie mode, and dual memory card slots, it sounds like the camera to beat in the lower-cost 5MP market. In reality, its photo quality is hit-or-miss and performance is subpar

| The new Samsung Digimax V50 is based on the Digimax V4, which we tested last year. The basic design of the V4 is recognizable in the body of V50, but the V50 benefits from some valuable improvements. This camera offers a 5 megapixel resolution, and continues the use of the Schneider-Kreuznach 4X zoom. The body is finished in a champagne colour and while the front of the camera is metal covered, the back and the cover doors are made of plastic, in a matching colour. . . . |

| With a five megapixel sensor, full manual shutter and aperture setting capability and a generous two inch swing-out and tilt colour LCD screen, the Samsung Digimax V50 is a camera that provides higher than average creative control features. Samsung has also provided an upgrade path for accessory lenses, underlining the emphasis on enthusiast features. But it's also a camera small enough to slip into coat pocket or small bag and it can be easily used as a simple point and shoot camera. |
