Review (Summary): "The Nikon Coolpix S50c features a 7.2 megapixel CCD image sensor coupled to prism-folded Nikkor 3x optical zoom lenses. The S50c also includes an impressively large 3.0 inch LCD screen, and offers true optical vibration reduction - a useful addition that helps steady shots in low light situations. What makes the Nikon Coolpix S50c different from its lower cost S50 sibling is the addition of wireless connectivity, allowing images to be transferred directly from the camera through open-access wireless hot spots.
... he Nikon S50c's failure to transmit images to your own computer is a big step backwards. Focus speed and image detail were also disappointing, as were battery life and lens performance. Unfortunately, the Nikon S50c is a very disappointing revision of one of the most attractive digicam designs ever. ..."

The CoolPix S50c is an attractive and well-made camera, and the WiFi capability is both useful and easy to use, but its sluggish performance, unimpressive picture quality and very slow AF system are major problems. Considering the price, unless you really want that wireless connectivity it's a hard camera to recommend." |

| Review (Summary): "Some things never change. Some other things, such as Nikon's wireless S-series cameras, change a little bit at a time. Nikon's new Coolpix S50c is a whole lot like the S7c that the company offered last year. It boasts a 7.2-megapixel CCD imaging sensor, a 3X optical, 38mm-to-114mm-equivalent f/3.3-to-f/4.2 zoom lens, a 3-inch LCD, and houses it all in a cute, curvy-yet-slim casing that's available in silver or black. Oh yeah, and it can wirelessly upload (via built-in 802.11 b/g) your images to Nikon's CoolPix Connect 2 Web site and send e-mails to your friends and family so they can retrieve said photos for free. Other than some slight, but welcomed, control changes, the biggest and best difference between this and last year's model is the addition of optical image stabilization instead of the much-less-effective electronic stabilization found in the S7c.
Overall, the S50c is a very nice ultracompact camera, though its wireless capabilities could be more useful. Since Nikon offers the S50, which is basically the exact same camera without the wireless, you're probably better off saving some money and opting for that,..." |

| Review (Summary): "Boasting a wonderful iPod-like scroll wheel, which also activates a beautiful GUI, the compact 7.2-megapixel S50c has a big, 3-inch LCD and a non-telescoping lens. Interestingly, though, the "c" in the S50c name stands for the Coolpix Connect service. The camera has built-in IEEE 802.11b/g networking that can transfer pictures in one of two ways: sending the photos through e-mail (the Picture Mail feature) or storing them on a server (Nikon's Picture Bank feature).
... Though its image quality is decent, it's certainly not the most awesome camera in terms of performance. Still, at least for now, it's the best wireless point-and-shoot out there." |
