Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T10 Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 1.00 (out of 10)
Review: "You would expect Sony to deliver the goods when it comes to stylish, well-crafted products, and the 7-megapixel Cyber-shot T10 digital compact is no exception.

While the T10 doesn't feature anything we haven't seen before, it looks good, is easy to operate, takes decent pictures and is reasonably swift at processing them. Those who merely want to point and shoot with the minimum of attendant fuss won't be disappointed, though the flick-open faceplate is love it or hate it.

Review: "The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T10 offers a CCD sensor resolution of 7.2 effective megapixels and ISO sensitivity from 80 to 1000, coupled with an optically stabilized Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar branded 3x optical zoom lens. The lens has an 35mm equivalent focal length range of 38 to 114mm.

The DSC-T10 continues a Sony tradition of high quality in the subcompact category, packing more features into a smaller space than most anything else out there, but this time with the added bonus of optical image stabilization and high ISO settings. Like those of other recent T-series models, we found the lens on the Sony T10 to be of higher than average quality for a subcompact camera, and image quality was quite good as a result."

Review: "Years after the first Sony T-series hit the market, it's still impossible to deny the cool factor of these little, silver snapshot cameras. This time, Sony serves up the 7.2-megapixel Cyber Shot DSC-T10, which lands between the 6-megapixel DSC-T9 and the 7.2-megapixel DSC-T30 in the company's line. The DSC-T10 doesn't sport the fancy plexiglass back panel or the 3-inch LCD of the T30, but it's got most of that camera's other features and a nice looking 2.5-inch LCD of its own.

The T10 raises the bar in terms of noise performance, while retaining all the other nice features that have made their way into this line over time. When it comes to ultracompact cameras, it's hard to beat the value of Sony's Cyber Shot DSC-T10, even if it does seem expensive."

Review: "First off I have to say that the T10 is an absolutely beautiful piece of kit. Just holding the T10 in your hand feels good - like the Canon Ixus, the T10 is constructed from metal and has a very solid feel to it, as well as being pleasantly cool to the touch. The metal construction extends to the tripod mount, which is always good to see – it’s all too easy to cross thread a plastic tripod mount and completely destroy it. There’s a sliding lens cover on the front (also constructed from metal) - sliding this down reveals the Carl Zeiss f3.5 - f4.3 lens and switches on the camera.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T10 is a lovely little camera, it really is, but unfortunately it stumbles in some key areas. The complete lack of any manual control limits creativity, meaning that this isn’t a camera for an enthusiastic amateur to learn with. The position of the lens also spoils the ergonomics somewhat and anyone with large hands will definitely find it difficult not to get their fingers in the frame. But the biggest problem for the T10 is the Canon Ixus 850 IS – it’s more ergonomically sound, has a far better feature set and is every bit as sleek and stylish as the Sony."
