Lexmark P350 Photo Printer Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 8.50 (out of 10)
The Lexmark P350 is a thermal inkjet compact photo printer which can deliver a 10x15cm / 6x4inch print in a claimed time of 75 seconds. The P350 uses a 3-color single cartridge containing pigment ink. Print resolution is 4800 x 1200 dpi, and the new evercolor2 ink and PerfectFinish paper promise print longevity of up to 200 years.

The Lexmark P350 is a small, quite stylish compact photo printer which unfortunately suffers from slow operation and poor print quality. Having to wait around 2 minutes for a print that has obvious banding will not satisfy too many users. The inability to print true borderless prints directly from a memory card will also limit this printer's appeal...."

Review: "The Lexmark P350 is one of a new breed of "one trick" printers. Instead of printing any size up to A4 like most photo printers you are limited to 6 x 4 (or "10 x 15" in metric). However, this tiny printer has a couple of tricks up its sleeve.

Print quality. Wow. Just wow. You have to remember that this printer only prints 6 x 4s and that this is fundamentally easier than printing larger pictures - if your printing is a little off then a 6 x 4 won't generally show it up where a bigger print will. However, with this proviso the Lexmark P350 produces outstanding prints.

Review: "When Lexmark introduced its first small-format dedicated photo printer, the P315, last year, my reaction was unenthusiastic. But its replacement, the P350 ($129.99 direct) makes it clear that the P315 was the hardware equivalent of a 1.0 software release. This year's model is fully ready for prime time.

Output quality is certainly good enough for snapshots to hand out to family and friends. Every photo I printed displayed true photo quality, with subjects ranging from landscapes to snowscapes to portraits. That said, a few flaws prevent it from being ideal. In our test photos that include people, for example, skin tones looked a touch yellow. In most cases, the color shift simply made people look tanned, but in one case, the face looked jaundiced."
