Olympus Stylus 750 Review
|
Review Summary
Review: "The Olympus Stylus 750 is designed to go anywhere the average enthusiast photographer is likely to want to go. Featuring a nicely sculpted, pocket-friendly, all-weather body with dual-mode image stabilization, the Stylus 750 features an Olympus-branded 5x optical zoom with a useful 36 to 180mm equivalent focal length range, and f/3.3 to f/5.0 maximum aperture, a cut above the 3x zooms offered on most point-and-shoot cameras.
Olympus's Stylus 750 has Stunning good looks, but I was disappointed in its performance. Color just seemed unnatural, and I came home with far too many blurry images for a camera that has image stabilization. I really wondered if the review unit was just malfunctioning. But it wasn't a mechanical issue. The thumbnails were very blurred, even when the image itself was not..."

| Review: "Olympus loves its Stylus line of cameras. They're shiny, they're slim, they're stylish, and they're weather resistant. That's certainly the case with the Olympus Stylus 750, a 7-megapixel snapshot camera with both digital and optical image stabilization.
The Olympus Stylus 750 is a very strong point-and-shoot camera, though its attractive images are hindered by mediocre performance. It has no manual exposure controls and isn't as responsive as we would like, but as a general snapshot camera, it's still a very good choice...." |

| Review: "While it may be small in your hands, the Olympus Stylus 750 ($399) is big on features. It features a 7.1 Megapixel CCD, 5X optical zoom lens, CCD-shift image stabilizer, 2.5" LCD display, a built-in help guide, and more. All this in a slim, stylish all-weather body.
Photo quality was a mixed bag. The good news is that photos were well-exposed, with pleasing colors and minimal purple fringing. The bad news is that there's a lot of blurriness around the edges of the frame, fine details appear fuzzy (probably due to noise reduction), and the sky was mottled. Red eye was also a big problem, and even the camera's red eye removal tool didn't help. Noise levels are reasonable through ISO 400, but I wouldn't use anything higher unless you're really desperate. |

| Review: "The wedge shaped Olympus Mju 750 slots into the company’s range between the Mju 1000 and the Tonka-tough Mju 725SW, which boasts full shock and waterproofing, compared here with “mere” weatherproofing. In fact, the camera can contend with “splashing water” from any direction (read rain, snow and sleet) but cannot be submerged.
Nice to look at, very pocketable, weatherproof and able to create images able to be printed at A3 or larger (with the caveat on shadow noise), the Olympus Mju 750 would make a great snapper for anyone: novice photographer, outdoor types or those who’d rather spend their time partying down the pub and dodging spillages of wine and beer while snapping away." |
