Casio Exilim EX-Z700 Review
|
Review Summary
Reader Score: 7.43 (out of 10)
Review: "It's small, it's silver, it has a huge screen on the back a 3X optical zoom and 7MP inside - that would be just like an EX-Z600 but with an extra 1 million pixels then. Stay tuned though because the EX-Z600 won one of our exclusive "Editor's Choice" awards and the Z700 has a couple of extra tricks up its sleeve.
I'm really struggling to think of things that I don't like about this camera. Macro mode isn't great. It is very good but when I needed to take a picture of a camera sensor I couldn't get a decent shot out of the Z700 and resorted to my faithful Panasonic FX8. Macro mode certainly is good enough for most uses but if you are seriously into macro you might find other cameras (such as the Ricoh R5) a better bet."

| Review (Summary): "For a pocket camera that sells for under $300, the Casio Exilim EX-Z700 has a lot going for it. Available in a choice of blue, silver, or gray, the Casio EX-Z700 is a slim camera with a light, but sturdy body made of polycarbonate with nice metal accents. Only 21mm thick, the camera combines a 7.2 megapixel sensor with an EXILIM-branded 3x optical lens (a fairly standard 38-114mm equivalent focal range). There's no optical viewfinder, but the Casio EX-Z700 does have a very bright 2.7-inch LCD.
...while image quality in daylight and normal lighting conditions was above average, the Casio EX-Z700 struggled in low light. ISO light sensitivity is only user-selectable to 400. While there is an Anti-Shake setting and a High Sensitivity Best Shot mode that will automatically boost the ISO to up to 800, aggressive in-camera anti-noise processing tended to blur fine detail. Despite these reservations, the Casio EX-Z700 is a good pocket camera that will help beginning users capture good snapshots outdoors and flash pictures indoors. ..." |

| Review: "..Though not as sleek as other Casio cameras, the Z700's flat, rectangular body comes in five different colors so users can accessorize. It feels comfortable and well-built in the hand; weighing 5 ounces and measuring just 0.8 inch thick, it can fit comfortably into most pockets. Its few buttons are laid out comfortably and can be easily manipulated, even by large thumbs.
The Casio Exilim EX-700 is an unremarkable point-and-shoot camera that doesn't excel at anything, though its performance and size make it great for quick snapshots. If you can afford them, the Canon PowerShot SD800 and the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T10 offer superior image quality in the same pocketable size for a slightly higher price." |

| Review: "Announced at the beginning of August and available in September 2006, the Casio Exilim EX-Z700 comes to the market with 7.2 megapixels and all the typical bells and whistles of a Casio camera. It is skinny with a 3x telescoping optical zoom lens on the front and a 2.7-inch LCD screen on the back.
The Casio Exilim EX-Z700 has a lot going for it. The digital camera has 7.2 megapixels and still keeps shutter lag to a minimum. It has a lengthy list of interesting scene modes, which some users will find fabulous and others will curse. It takes decent pictures in optimal lighting and its built-in flash has plenty of controls to keep it from whitening foreheads and such..." |
