Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 Review Review
|
Review Summary
Review: "The Sony DSC-T30 continues the evolution of the T-series by upping the resolution to 7.2 megapixels while retaining a 3X Carl Zeiss zoom with folded optics and adding a 3-inch monitor, along with a 58 MB internal memory.
With a high-resolution image, a good stabilization system that reduces the risk that images will be ruined by camera shake, and a clean and compact design, the DSC-T30 offers yet another interesting alternative for compact camera purchasers."

| Review: "Sony's Cyber-shot T-series of digital cameras have proven popular in the market thanks to their slim, compact bodies and ease of use while still allowing a fair degree of control over photos. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 builds on that heritage, as an update to the existing DSC-T9 model. The T9 was the first Sony camera to feature an image-stabilized lens branded with the famous Carl Zeiss name, and the T30 shared that same lens. The T30 couples this with a new 7.2 effective megapixel CCD imager, with a higher maximum ISO sensitivity of 1000. There's also a larger 3.0" LCD display versus the 2.5" type in the six-megapixel T9, and a new NP-FR1 InfoLithium battery that should offer almost double the battery life of that camera (420 shots instead of 240).
The biggest news of course, is the T30's Super SteadyShot image stabilization, which we found to be very effective. This will let you get crisp shots even when faced with hand-holding the camera under surprisingly dim lighting (assuming of course, that your subject is stationary as well). Of course, a tripod is always recommended when things get really dark, but we were very pleasantly surprised to see just how dark it could get, while we were still snapping sharp photos." |

| Review: "The Cyber-shot DSC-T30 ($500) is the top-end model in Sony's ultra-thin camera lineup. The T30 takes the basic design and features of the DSC-T9 and cranks them up a notch. That means that in addition to a 3X zoom lens and optical image stabilizer that you'll also get a 7.2 Megapixel CCD, huge 3-inch LCD display, support for higher ISO sensitivities, and greatly enhanced battery life. All that (and more) in a camera that fits in your smallest pocket!
Camera performance is excellent in almost all areas. The T30 starts up in a little over a second, focuses very quickly, and shutter lag was not a problem. Battery life was superb for an ultra-compact camera, and the USB 2.0 High Speed support will quickly transfer those big photos and movies to your PC. The only disappointment in this area was the burst mode, which chugs along at just 1.1 frames/second." |

| Review: "Sony's T series has been a staple of the company's camera line ever since it was introduced. With sleek silver (and recently black) bodies, sliding lens covers that stretch boldly across the camera front, and big LCD screens that dominate the camera back, Sony has hit on a design philosophy that resonates strongly with digital snapshooters. Add to that recipe their pocketable size, easy-to-use controls and menus, and solid image quality, and you have a tasty little digicam.
While the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T30 amounts to only an incremental improvement over the Cyber Shot DSC-T9-the main difference, other than some style points, is its extended ISO range-it's hard to complain about this fancy-looking snapshot camera." |

| Review: "The Cyber-shot DSC-T30 is in Sony's ultra-compact line of digital cameras with its sleek metal surface and slim profile. The 7.2-megapixel T30 has a lot of features that make it attractive to trendy point-and-shooters. It is easy to use, offering a selection of automatic modes, along with a High Sensitivity scene mode that boosts the ISO up to 1000 to capture pictures without the flash at places like night clubs where illumination is limited.
The pictures from the Sony T30 look good and the movies garnered from the Pro card look good, but the quality still doesn't justify the enormous price tag. At $499, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 is the most expensive ultra-slim digital camera on the market." |
