Casio Exilim EX-Z60 Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 9.00 (out of 10)
Review: "The Casio Exilim Z60 is a little camera that is particularly suited to photographers who want to capture a favourite moment quickly and easily. A camera like this should be no trouble to take along so that you can always have it on you. The Exilim Z60 is one of Casio's prize products and is intended to capture a greater share of the market.

The Casio Exilim Z60 fast operation was a pleasant experience. The standard settings give a good speed base for most subjects, but the serial picture function of 3fps is especially good for most active subjects or pictures taken quickly. The combination of the high resolution and rapid image processing makes Casio one of the top scorers in the world of ultra compact cameras. In particular the feature that allows you to use the internal flash when taking action pictures is really exceptional. This indicates what Casio is capable of and what it could have up its sleeve thanks to the Exilim processor. Very impressive! "

Review: "The Casio Exilim EX-Z60 is a very slim and stylish compact digital camera, measuring less than 2cms thick and with a brushed all-metal finish. With a 6 megapixel sensor and 2.5 inch LCD screen, the EX-Z60 sits in the middle of the Casio range. Standout features include no less than 33 different scene modes, which should cover most situations, an electronic image stabilization system called Anti Shake DSP, and a Quick Shutter mode which turns off the camera's auto-focus system so that you can take a shot more quickly.

The Casio Exilim EX-Z60 is a promising point and shoot camera that ultimately doesn't live up to its full potential, thanks largely to its poor image quality. The EX-Z60, as with most Casio cameras that we've reviewed, is very well-built, easy to use, stylish and quick. On the other hand, the 6 megapixel, 1/2.5 inch sensor produces images that look good at first glance, but which upon closer inspection suffer from obvious noise at ISO 200 and faster, purple fringing in many shots, including situations where you wouldn't really expect to find it, and almost completely ineffective anti-shake and high-sensitivity modes."

Review: "Casio's Exilim compacts are quietly building a big fan base with those that know of them and word of mouth, offering stylish, simple to use and compact cameras at good prices.

More than adequate image quality and a veritable host of automated snapping options to throw at almost any shooting situation make it very usable indeed. It may lack the controllability of some similar competitor models, but it also lacks their price premium. As such, it is certainly worth putting on your wants list, if a simple to use and competent digital compact is what you're after."

Review: "Though not as stunning as its bigger brother, the Exilim EX-S600, the EX-Z60 is indeed a fine looking digital camera. With dimensions of 95.2mm (Width) x 60.6mm (Height) x 19.8mm (Depth), this is a slim camera that wears a polished silver color, resembling most other digital cameras on the market. Nice looking, but nothing we haven't already seen before.

Any consumer looking to purchase a new digital camera soon should seriously consider the Casio Exilim EX-Z60. It's the perfect balance of a high-quality digital camera with a price that most people can afford when shopping around. If you want to do both movies and photos, step up to the EX-S600. Otherwise, the BestShot technology and other great features included in this camera will be sure to attract your attention and get your money's worth."
