Plustek OpticFilm 7200i Scanner Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 10.00 (out of 10)
Review: 'The 7200i is neat, compact, and simple to use and yet is equipped with enough resolution to get extremely large files should you require them. The addition of iSRD (Infrared Smart Removal of Defect) processing means you can clean up your scans on the fly, but this does extend processing times and can remove detail as well so use with care.

As dedicated film scanners go this one is cheap, easy to use and yet it still packs a respectable punch: so, here cheap means great value for money. If a dedicated film scanner is your bag and you’re on a tighter budget, the Plustek OpticFilm 7200i should definitely be on your list."

"The Plustek Opticfilm 7200 created quite a stir when it was announced. It is currently the highest resolution dedicated 35mm scanner available, and one of the cheapest.

The performance of the Plustek OpticFilm 7200i is excellent, especially for its price. It produces detailed scans and accurate colours that aren't too different from the results you would expect from a scanner twice the price. There are a few limitations though, the length of time it takes to produce a scan when using the infrared dust and scratch removal, at the maximum resolution, is impractical. Also the limited dynamic range of this scanner shows, when compared to more expensive opposition."
