Casio Exilim EX-Z600 Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 10.00 (out of 10)
Review: "The diminutive proportions of the Casio Exilim EX-S600 make this very appealling as a camera to just slip into your pocket, and logic dictates that photographers looking for this kind of camera wouldn't appreciate the inclusion of advanced photographic features. 'Best Shot' scene modes, are provided to offer some control over exposure and white balance, but that's about it. The LCD screen isn't the clearest around, but it does the job and the same can be said about the image quality, not startling, but acceptable."

Preview: "The Casio EX-Z600 was released this week at PMA and promises to add a strong competitor in the crowded 6 MP market. This digital camera features a 2.7-inch, 153,600 pixel Super Bright LCD screen, a handful of manual controls including manual focus and a movie mode setting that shoots video at 640 x 480 VGA-quality at 30 fps.

The areas where Casio really stands out in comparison to other digital cameras in its price range involve specific image alteration features, like motion print, movie editing, still image editing with rotation, resize, trim, and copy while still in-camera, and the 33 preset modes which could come in handy for many users who ride the fence between auto and manual control settings."

Review: "With a Super Bright LCD and long battery life, the compact Casio Exilim EX-Z600 has a lot to recommend it. It's in the current resolution sweet spot of 6 megapixels, and the LCD is 2.7 inches diagonally with 153,600 pixels of resolution. A pretty typical 3x optical zoom gives you some flexibility when composing your shots.

The quick operation, bright LCD, and battery life of the Casio Exilim EX-Z600 are enough to put it on your list for consideration if you're looking for a compact, easy to use, auto-only digital camera. The image quality is good and with a little practice, you can get consistently good pictures. As with many compact point and shoot digital cameras, the more you know how your camera works in certain conditions, the better you get at taking good pictures with it."

Review: "Slide this little camera out of your pocket, and people are sure to ooh and ahh over its large and bright 2.7-inch LCD. In typical Casio Exilim fashion, the 6-megapixel EX-Z600 is slender, stylish, highly portable, and easy to use-even for beginners.

While we applaud Casio's attention to trying to eliminate blurry photos with its various special modes, boosting the ISO often delivers such high noise levels that the pictures are almost useless for anything but small snapshots. Red-eye reduction is a mixed bag, although we were told that one subject's light blue eyes always produced red-eye regardless of the camera used."
