Canon Powershot SD630 Review

Review: "It may be small, but the Canon PowerShot SD630 is fierce. This little 6-megapixel point-and-shoot manages to pack zippy performance and snappy photos into a package you can fit in your pants pocket. If you have large hands, you'll probably find its control layout a little uncomfortable, and it doesn't have an optical viewfinder, but the SD630 is still a great compact camera.
The SD630's photos were quite pleasing, especially in the low-ISO ranges. At ISO 80, shots look crisp and clear with very little fringing and solid color reproduction. Images predictably become noisy at ISO 400 and ISO 800, but it isn't so apparent as to render the photo unusable."

Review: "Canon makes some of the most consistently appealing compact cameras around, mostly because they don't skimp on image quality. With the new PowerShot SD630 Digital ELPH, that steady attention to imaging detail continues with several new small but substantial improvements. In particular, the SD630 tackles one of the hottest issues in digital cameras right now: low-light shooting.
While the SD630 still features a lot of the same classic Digital ELPH design elements, Canon jazzed things up a bit with the two-toned black and silver body and sleeker overall design. Along with providing solid image quality in regular lighting conditions with good color and accurate skin tones, the SD630 incorporates many of Canon's technological advances for shooting with high ISOs. Boasting an ISO 800 setting is one thing - several rivals have also started offering these ISO levels and higher - but Canon backs up this ISO sensitivity rating with real, usable results. Many shots I took without a flash and the ISO set to 800 on the SD630 were leaps and bounds better than images I captured with competing cameras set at ISO 400." |

| Review: 'I’ve always like the styling of the Digital ELPH. About the size of a deck of cards, the front has a nice brushed metal finish plus there’s an embossed metal ring around the lens. While not the flashiest camera around, it’s sophisticated and compact, at home in a Louis Vuitton handbag or a jeans pocket. And it has a nice substantial feel. The SD630 measures 3.6 x 2.2 x .8 (WHD, in inches) and weighs 5.8 ounces with battery, memory card and wrist strap.
I really enjoyed shooting with the Canon SD 630 Digital ELPH. It takes very nice photos with colors that are spot on. The compact camera feels right and can be easily carried for the spur of the moment snapshots. It’s designed for the point-and-shoot crowd or someone who just wants a shade more options in their photographic arsenal. Anyone who wants to adjust the aperture or shutter speed should look elsewhere." |

| Review: "The PowerShot SD630 ($399) is another member of Canon's popular line of ultra-compact digital cameras. The SD630 shares much in common with the SD600, with the major difference being its large 3-inch LCD display. Both cameras have 3X zoom lenses, a 6MP CCD, point-and-shoot operation, and a VGA movie mode.
Long-time readers of this site know that I've been a big fan of Canon's SD-series cameras for a while now. I'm not quite as excited about the SD630, though, mainly because there are more compelling options available. Don't get me wrong: the SD630 is a nice camera, and one that I'd recommend. At the same time, it's worth mentioning that there are other cameras offering similar-sized LCDs plus things like image stabilization (very useful on small cameras like this) for around the same money. The SD630 is definitely worth your consideration, but take a close look at the competition too." |

| Review: "Featuring a high resolution 3-inch (173,000 pixels) LCD screen, the steel-bodied Digital IXUS 65 (90x57x20mm, 145g) draws on original IXUS designer Yasushi Shiotani's 'box and circle' concept to achieve a look of classic elegance. The camera also sports a unique Touch Control Dial and attractive two-tone brushed silver and ebony black finish. Not only that but the 3x optical zoom (35- to 105mm, 35mm equivalent) with UA lens is a practical inclusion, and the DIGIC II, iSAPS and 9-point AiAF allow for fast, sharp results.
The Digital IXUS 65 (Powershot SD630 in the U.S.) is compact and robust enough to carry around in shirt or trouser pocket, it's a joy to use, and its image quality is among the best in its class - accurate color reproduction, good exposure and the right auto focus makes it easy to take beautiful pictures." |

| Review: "Taking pictures with the Canon SD630 was enjoyable and easy. In the picture quality area there is nothing to complain about because the SDF630 delivers snappy photos with vivid color that seem to jump right off the monitor. It's fast to turn on, power up and recycle time between shots seemed almost instantaneous." |
