Olympus SP-320 Review
|
Review Summary
Reader Score: 7.40 (out of 10)
Preview: "The Olympus SP-320 comes with a 1/1.8-inch, 7.1 megapixel CCD, a 2.5-inch LCD, a wealth of manual controls and 31 presets, and while these initial specifications may seem noteworthy, a second examination will find flaws within most of these. For example, while not overly large, a 2.5-inch LCD is quite respectable within this price range, but with a mere 115,000 pixels, the quality of image is compromised too much to properly gauge focus, even with an enlarged frame utilized.
The Olympus SP-320 certainly provides a wide variety of controls, such as full manual features, partial auto, full auto and a wealth of preset shooting options sure to appeal to the user on a budget. The only problem is that the menu is unfriendly towards everyone. For more advanced users the menu structure will be a hindrance, though not overwhelming, but beginning point-and-shooters run the risk of becoming turned off to the whole idea of digital photography."

| Review: "An ideal digital camera for ambitious photographers, the SP-320 offers an array of impressive photographic options for creative freedom. The 6.4cm LCD lets you frame your pictures perfectly and 7.1 million pixels ensure excellent shooting results. Experiment with 25 scene modes and an expanded movie recording function. It has the high ISO setting capability of up to 800 for low light condition photography. Plus, with the added histogram function you can easily check and – if required – adjust the brightness of your motif, which makes it much easier to recapture the mood.
I was generally very pleased with the Olympus SP-320's image quality straight from the camera, as pictures came out with low noise, accurate colour, and good saturation, contrast and detail. The camera also provides excellent control over image quality, with saturation, contrast, and sharpness options, and full aperture, shutter and manual controls. The SP-320 is a comfortable camera to hold with a good sized hand grip and a fairly compact but sturdy body. This camera is easy to use (in auto mode) especially with the built in help guide and numerous scene modes, although it offers a mixed bag with regards to camera speed." |

| Review: "The Olympus SP-320 is a member of Olympus' SP line of cameras that have "Power and Versatility". With features like RAW image capture and several manual modes, the camera may appeal to someone with a tight budget who wants the advanced features that the camera has. The SP-320 features a 7.1 megapixel sensor, 2.5 inch LCD, and 3x optical zoom. Powered by 2 AA batteries, the SP-320 is a midsized compact camera that is comfortable to hold and takes good pictures.
The Olympus SP-320 is a good choice for someone looking for camera with advanced features (RAW, aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual modes) but who still has a pretty tight budget. At a street price under $300, the SP-320 stays affordable for such "advanced" features." |
