Ricoh Caplio GX Review

While Ricoh may be better known by the general public for copiers and fax machines, the company has been producing interesting digital camera designs for as long as anyone. Their latest model, the Caplio GX, offers true wide angle coverage coupled with a five megapixel specification at an unprecedented low price. In fact the GX is so cheap, one wonders if sacrifices have had to be made along the way.

| The Ricoh Caplio GX is an interesting digital camera which brings Ricoh in the spotlight again. The camera is equipped with high quality optics and a functional zoom range. The wide angle is getting more and more attractive to more manufacturers and it is good to see Ricoh taking the lead. |

| Launched at the start of May 2004, the Ricoh Caplio GX is the new flagship model in the Ricoh digital camera range. The Ricoh Caplio GX has gained a lot of attention because of its unique combination of a 5-megapixel CCD sensor, wide-angle 28mm lens, having the world's fastest shutter response and start-up times, and an affordable price-tag of £279.99 ($499.99 U.S.). Previous Ricoh cameras that I've reviewed have offered great handling, but have been rather let down by the image-quality. So has the Caplio GX rectified this crucial problem? Read on to find out. |
