"Canon calls all of its desktop ink jet printers photo printers, but most them are good choices as all-purpose printers for text and graphics as well, even if you rarely print a photo. The Canon Pixma iP6600D Photo Printer ($199.99 direct) is a photo printer in a more classic sense. It can function for text and graphics if it must, limping along with fair-quality text and poor speed. But when it comes to photos, the printer shines, with excellent speed, high-quality output, and an assortment of features specifically designed to make photos easy to print."

"A 3.5-inch color LCD dominates the top of the $199 Canon Pixma iP6600D. The display-the largest we've seen on an inkjet printer-flips upward, making it easy to preview images and navigate the menus, including options for touching up photos. A door on the front of the printer conceals two media card slots that are capable of reading the most common card formats (Compact Flash, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Microdrive, MultiMedia Card, SD Card, and SmartMedia).

Only a few months ago we would have been extolling the iP6600D's print speeds, but the iP6600D seems a little poky compared to a few other new models."
