The Canon Pixma MP500 is an attractively priced combination of printer, scanner, and media card reader. It's not ideal for every user: serious photographers may bemoan the lack of a film-scanning capability, while home-office workers may miss a built-in fax and an automatic document feeder, but you get the most important functions in a compact and easy-to-use unit.

Review: "The Canon Pixma MP500 multi-purpose inkjet photo printer does everything you might expect from an all-in-one printer - except fax. It copies, scans and prints photos. From our perspective, it's a photo printer that also happens to scan and make copies. What will all of this almost-all-in-one set you back? $200. At that price, the MP500 is a smart (and cheap) addition to Canon's MP all-in-one line of compact printers.

The Canon Pixma MP500 offers a great value for an inkjet multi-purpose printer in its price range - if you don't need a fax. For $200, you get a lot of functionality: a photo printer with memory slots and adjustable 2.5" LCD screen, a scanner, and a copier. The user interface on the printer itself is simple and easy to use. Those who want a fax will have to shell out another hundred dollars for the MP830."
