Epson Stylus Photo R220 Review

If you need a relatively inexpensive second home printer primarily for printing photos, or if you have a personal monochrome laser and need an ink jet for printing in color, the Epson Stylus Photo R220 ($100 street) may be just what you're looking for. It offers reasonably high quality across the board and very good performance for photos. It's also a potential choice as a single all-purpose home printer, but only if you don't mind waiting for output, particularly for text documents.

| Epson's latest inkjet photo printer is designed for home users looking to produce cost-effective photographs up to A4 in size, as well as personalise printable CDs and DVDs. It's far from being the most complete photo studio, but its low cost, wide range of features and above-average print quality make it a solid choice for general photo printing duties. Competitively priced, easy to use and relatively economical to run, the Stylus Photo R220 is hard to beat for the money. |

| "The Epson Stylus Photo R220 costs just $99, but it omits many of the features that set photo printers apart from everyday inkjets. On the front panel, you won't find a color LCD or media card slots, and the USB 1.1 port located there connects only to a PC, not to a digital camera. (Another USB port is at the rear, but it also connects only to a PC and you can only use one of these ports at a time.)
The Epson Stylus Photo R220 is a slow, no-frills budget printer that produces weak prints on plain paper, but wonderful photos on photo paper." |
