Casio Exilim Pro EX-P700 Review
|
Review Summary
Reader Score: 8.00 (out of 10)
If you've gotten used to thinking of Casio Exilims as little cameras that you can slip into your pocket (which was the point of their original ad campaign, complete with a model wearing slinky leather jeans) the EX-P700 is going to force you to rethink the line, unless your idea of a supermodel includes baggy cargo jeans. The truth is that the "Pro" designation doesn't lie, and this camera would be as much at home photographing models as hanging from their wrists. Combined with some truly elegant engineering and a host of intelligent features, whether you're an amateur or pro will remain your secret…the camera offers help for the one and creative flexibility for the other.

| The Casio Exilim Pro EX-P700 is a 7.2 megapixel compact digital camera with a fast 4x optical zoom lens made by Canon that offers a focal length of 33-132mm. The EX-P700 offers an extended battery life of around 260 shots and has a full range of manual and automatic shooting modes, including no less than 27 different Scene modes to help you achieve the correct exposure. On the rear of the camera is a 2-inch LCD screen, and inside is technology that ensures quick operation in terms of shutter lag, startup time, focusing and continuous shooting. Casio claims that the EX-P700 is a digital camera for semi-professional use, so does it live up to this billing? Find out by reading my review of the Casio Exilim Pro EX-P700. |

| The seven megapixel four times zoom EXILIM Pro EX-P700 was announced on 25th August 2004, it is essentially a CCD upgrade to the silver bodied six megapixel EX-P600 announced seven months earlier. The P600 and P700 are Casio's first prosumer digital camera for quite some time and have a full range of manual controls. The compact all metal body has some unusual body design features most notably the rather busy camera front. |

| The Casio Exilim Pro EX-P700 delivered pleasing images that generally demonstrated accurate colors and good dynamic range. Our photos were sharp and in focus, with crisp details befitting the camera's 7-megapixel sensor. Noise became a problem at higher ISO sensitivity settings, though at ISO 80 and ISO 160 it fell within acceptable levels. The P700 does have a fringing problem, so you're likely to see purple borders around some of your brighter highlights, but this was perhaps the camera's only notable image quality drawback.
