| The M22 is described as weatherproof, which is not the same as waterproof. While Pentax's outstanding Optio WP can be immersed at depths of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes, the HP M22 is only able to withstand splashes, rain and spray, but even that will be an advantage if you lead an active lifestyle. It has a reasonably sturdy aluminium body, the controls are all rounded and recessed, and when not in use the lens is protected by a sliding cover, which also doubles as the on/off switch. |

| The 4-megapixel HP Photosmart M22 offers helpful features for beginners and takes surprisingly good pictures for an inexpensive camera.
HP claims the all-metal body is weather-resistant, and the camera does have a sturdy feel (though the tripod mount is plastic). At a little over four ounces (without batteries), it should be a perfect pocket camera. Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to slip it into a pants pocket without sliding the lens cover, which turns the camera off and on. |

| "A weatherproof, all-metal digital compact for a penny less than £90 is pretty much a bargain by pretty much any standards, here the bonus of weatherproofing makes it particularly ideal for those out and about types among you. And while the M22's larger print capability may be compromised by the camera's harsh processing, if all you need are snaps while walking or when out and about, then this little camera might be just the one you've been waiting for." |
