Canon Powershot S410 Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 5.50 (out of 10)
The Canon S410 is a great little camera, although it's a little "behind the times". Newer models have eclipsed this model as far as quickness and image processing. Canon continues to keep quality as a high priority in all of their camera models. At a current price around $250, it's still not cheap, but Canon knows that people are willing to pay for the compactness and solidness of this camera (and the Canon brand).

Although the Canon PowerShot S410 lacks the manual controls that serious photographers demand, as well as the scene modes and the high-res video capture that some of its competitors offer, it has enough shooting options to please those in the point-and-click crowd who just want a good basic feature set and high-quality snapshots. Replacing the very similar Canon PowerShot S400, this 4-megapixel PowerShot's major new feature is a Print & Share button for easier direct printing.

The Canon PowerShot S410 is the latest in the highly popular line of "Digital ELPH cameras from Canon. Canon's name is one of the few needing no introduction in the world of photography: Ask a photographer, be they professional or amateur, to name the first couple of camera manufacturers that they can think of, and chances are that Canon would be at or near the top of the list........

While not as much of a standout as they once were, the two new Digital ELPHs -- the S410 and S500 -- are still some of the best choices in the compact point-and-shoot category. One of the strong points of the old S400 was image quality -- and both cameras continue that tradition. Both cameras produced saturated, sharp, and "smooth-looking" images.
