Product Introduction
The HP Photosmart 8150, announced
last August, is a photo printer for those who never thought they
could make their own prints. The prints that come out of the Photosmart
8150 will rival those from traditional photo labs and will actually resist fading
twice as long*, thanks to the printers use of HP's new Vivera
(a word HP derived from "Vivid", "Vibrant", and "Era") Inks.
HP's Vivera inks allow photo prints to last as long as 110 years,
easily outperforming traditional prints, and features technology
that allow consumers to monitor individual ink levels.
Think of the HP Photosmart 8150 as a PHOTO Kiosk that sits on your desk. It
features a large 2.5-inch color LCD, an easy-to-use
dial on the front for selecting page layouts quickly and easily, and
six color inks that provide true photo quality color and resolution. An optional
HP Gray Photo Cartridge is available for those who want true black & white
prints.
Without ever connecting the HP Photosmart 8150 to your computer
(which you can do), you'll be able to print borderless
or bordered prints up to 8.5" x 11" directly from CompactFlash,
SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Secure Digital / MultiMedia Card, xD-Picture Card,
USB Flash drive, directly from your camera, or even from
a bluetooth enabled phone or PDA by adding an optional USB bluetooth
module.
The HP Photosmart 8150 even has two paper trays, one for standard size
inkjet or photo paper - up to 8.5" x 11", the other for 4" x 6" photo
paper. This design allows you to quickly change from business/text
printing to printing 4" x 6" photographs without having to swap paper.
In total, the printer has a paper input capacity of 100 sheets split
between the bottom tray that will hold paper up to 8.5"x14" in size
and the upper tray that is designed for use with 4"x6" photo paper,
index cards, Hegaki cards, and L-size cards.
* Based on Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. light fade testing under
glass using HP 95 tri-color and HP 99 photo inkjet print cartridges with
HP Premium Plus photo paper.
