Record Crowd Expected at 3rd Annual LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville, VA.

3rd annual event celebrates photography with on-stage interviews, nightly projections, outdoor exhibitions, multi-media presentations, and gallery shows in Charlottesville, VA, June 11,12,13

Charlottesville, VA (April 27, 2009) - In its third year, the LOOK3 Festival expects another weekend of sold-out attendance and thousands of additional spectators June 11-13 in Charlottesville, VA.  Taking place in venues throughout the downtown area, the LOOK3 Festival will celebrate the careers of legendary photographers, emerging talent and the best work from the past year, from photojournalism to fine art.  The historic Downtown area will be transformed for 3 days into a "living image" with thousands of photographs projected onto buildings, hung in the trees, and on display in all the galleries.  Highlights of the three-day Festival include gallery exhibitions and interviews with renowned photographers Sylvia Plachy, Martin Parr, and Gilles Peress; "Shots" and "Works" two nights of exceptional new work by a selection of photographers from around the world, projected onto a giant screen in a covered, outdoor concert arena.

"Each year LOOK3 gets better and better and 2009 is shaping up to be our best yet.  Our Guest Curator, MaryAnne Golon has selected a lineup of artists and events that truly brings the vision of LOOK3 to life.  We want the world's best photographers to come to Charlottesville, and that's what we're going to see," says Jessica Nagle, LOOK3's Co-Executive Director.  "At LOOK3, the idea is to fall in love with photography all over again, year after year, whether you make pictures yourself or just admire them.  We call it '3 days of peace, love, and photography' because it's truly an affair of the heart."
