Photographer / Filmmaker Tim Hetherington Added to List of Prominent Seminar Presenters at PhotoPlus Expo in New York

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo, named “one of the top events in New York City” by Crain’s New York Business, is proud to announce that nationally recognized and award-winning photographer-filmmaker Tim Hetherington has been added to its prestigious list of seminar presenters at this year's PhotoPlus Expo show in New York this week.

His seminar, titled, "The Documentary Hybrid: Image and Possibility," is scheduled for Friday, October 23, from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. During his seminar, Hetherington will discuss how thinking about “image making” rather than “photography” can help make this a time of opportunity rather than turmoil.

Digital technology has created seismic upheavals in the world of image-making, and with the future of print in question, photographers need to consider how to utilize new media, video and audio to enhance their photographic work and creative vision. Tim Hetherington has evolved an innovative documentary practice that both harnesses and looks beyond the still photograph. Hetherington utilizes diverse forms of visual communication—from still images to multimedia to film—to disseminate his long-term projects, greatly increasing the audience for, and impact of, his work. His projects have included creating digital projections at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, mounting fly-poster exhibitions in Lagos, and developing handheld device downloads.
