New KODAK EASYSHARE-ONE Digital Camera, Wi-Fi-Enabled EASYSHARE Printer Dock Plus Expand Boundaries of Picture Sharing

LAS VEGAS, January 5 - On the eve of the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Eastman Kodak Company introduced a groundbreaking wireless digital photography system, giving people the freedom to share pictures whenever and whenever they wish.

At the heart of the system is the new KODAK EASYSHARE-ONE zoom digital camera, which provides people with extraordinary control over how and when they share pictures. The device is the first of its kind, allowing people to e-mail pictures directly from the camera via Wi-Fi; to view online albums in the KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery (formerly Ofoto) on the camera; to store and organize up to 1,500 favorite pictures for instant display on its high-resolution, 3-inch touch screen LCD; and to take vibrant still pictures and full-motion video. No other digital camera gives people such an extensive ability to take, organize, share and print their pictures.

The same KODAK Wi-Fi card that provides the EASYSHARE-ONE camera with wireless capabilities can now be used with the recently introduced KODAK EASYSHARE Printer Dock Plus. In addition to printing real KODAK pictures in as little as 60 seconds without a computer, it can now transfer pictures from a docked camera or memory card to networked computers throughout a home. With the card, the Printer Dock Plus can also receive pictures for printing from Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, PDAs, and other devices without requiring them to be in the same room.

"Innovations such as the EASYSHARE-ONE camera are central to our digitally oriented growth strategy," said Bernard Masson, president, Digital & Film Imaging Systems; and senior vice president, Eastman Kodak Company. "Kodak is at the leading edge of defining how wireless advancements can further simplify the consumer digital photography experience. We're discovering new ways to help people enjoy and share their pictures - anytime, anywhere."
Kodak leverages a wide range of wireless standards, such as BLUETOOTH® technology, infrared, Wi-Fi and cellular networks, to make it easy for people to view, share and print pictures instantly without the use of cords, cables or even computers. All can be viewed during CES in the Kodak Booth #31400, on the second level of the Las Vegas Convention Center's South Hall.

Kodak Innovations on Display
In addition to highlighting the EASYSHARE-ONE camera and Printer Dock Plus, Kodak is also showcasing multiple innovative products and services during CES, including:

  • New EASYSHARE Z-Series digital cameras, which help everyday picture takers get closer, better, more creative shots through extended zoom lenses.
  • The new EASYSHARE Picture Viewer, a pocket-sized "digital photo album" that fits in the palm of a hand to share favorite pictures on the go.
  • KODAK Mobile Service, whose subscribers have anytime, anywhere access to their digital photos and phone-captured video, using their mobile phone handsets or Web-connected computers.
  • KODAK Picture Maker kiosks with wireless transfer technologies for printing real KODAK pictures in seconds at tens of thousands of retail locations worldwide.
At CES, three KODAK products - the EASYSHARE DX7590 zoom digital camera, the EASYSHARE Printer Dock Plus, and the KODAK Picture Maker G3 Digital Print Station - received Innovations 2005 Design and Engineering Awards, sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America. Chosen by a panel of independent industry designers, engineers and journalists, these awards honor superior design and engineering among the year's most technologically advanced products.
