Travel Photographer of the Year Competition Opens Today

Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) is an international photographic competition designed to find the very best in travel photography. Anyone can enter – young or old, amateur or professional and there’s a total prize package worth over £60,000.

The competition has four portfolio categories and a single image category. Each category has a different theme and between them they cover every possible aspect of travel photography. There's even a special category for those aged 16 and under (see Young Travel Photographer of the Year, below).

The photographer who the judges feel demonstrates the greatest skill, diversity and creativity in two different portfolio categories will have their talents rewarded with the title of Travel Photographer of the Year, plus a magnificent prize.

There are also major travel and photography prizes for each category winner, and prizes for runners-up, highly commended and commended entries in every category. All the travel prizes are for two people, so you can take someone with you if you win.

There is a small entry fee but this is scaled to the size of your entry. You also have a chance to put something back by making a charitable donation with your entry fee.
