Broaden your horizons with a wide-angle 28mm view.
Ricoh was a pioneer in bringing wide-angle photography to the Caplio series. Our newest Caplio features a wide-angle 28mm view, expanding your perspective far beyond that of common 35mm digital cameras. So you can capture more even when you have less room to work with.
Introducing Ricoh's Smooth Imaging Engine image processing system.
The brain of a more highly evolved camera. Images captured from a wide-angle lens are expansive, requiring the CCD to handle greater amounts of information. To process the information rapidly, the Caplio R1V incorporates Ricoh's Smooth Imaging Engine image processing system, which features 12-bit image processing and filtering processing to produce images with natural gradation and very low noise. Our color management software matches the CCD's spectral sensitivity, optimizing color reproduction. For natural images with true colors, the Caplio R1V simply is more advanced.
The energy-wise Caplio R1V takes around 490 pictures on a rechargeable battery.
You get high performance using less energy with the Caplio R1V. Using the camera’s rechargeable battery, you can take about 490 pictures* between charges. AA alkaline batteries, which offer a great back-up plan when you’re on vacation or working, give you around 200 shots*. Plus, you can run the camera from its AC adaptor. So, altogether the Caplio R1V offers three easy and efficient power-up options. To conserve battery power, the synchro monitor mode automatically switches off the LCD display when the camera is not in operation. The LCD display powers up again when you push the shutter button half down. The Caplio R1V -the digital camera you can relax with.

Ricoh's innovative Retracting LENS System.
How did we fit a powerful 4.8x (28mm-135mm) optical zoom lens inside a 25mm slim camera? With our ingenious Retracting LENS System, which swings part of the lens group like a pendulum inside the camera when the lens retracts. As a result, the Caplio R1V is about 26% slimmer than cameras with conventional lens systems. To maximize the image capturing power of the 5.0-megapixel CCD, four highly refractive, low-dispersion glass lenses are incorporated.
Shutter release lag time of 0.05 seconds for instant response.
A perfect moment disappears in the blink of the eye. To capture it, you need a camera like the Caplio R1V that responds instantly. Switch on the power: You're ready to shoot in approximately 0.8 seconds*. Snap your picture: Shutter release time lag is as little as 0.05 seconds (even faster is the approximately 0.003 second shutter response time from focus lock, which is engaged when you press the shutter button halfway). Ready for your next shot? The Caplio R1V resets in about one second. So you won't miss the moment.
Three continuous shooting modes:
Continuous, S-continuous, and M-continuous.
To photograph a moving subject, use regular continuous mode and the Caplio R1V will fire continuously for as long as you press down the shutter button. In S-continuous mode, one press of the shutter button fires 16 shots in 2.2 seconds and stores them in a single file. And M-continuous mode memorizes the last 16 shots in a 2.2-second file. These two modes are handy for capturing various kinds of continuous motion situations. Use them to analyze your tennis or golf swing, or capture a baby or pet playing.
1cm Macro mode
With the lens set at wide-angle 28mm, the Caplio R1V's macro photography function lets you shoot as close as 1cm from your subject. In telemacro mode, you can shoot from as close as 13cm away, and from 15cm away flash power will adjust automatically to prevent any unwanted whiteout effects. So you can get amazing perspectives on flowers and jewelry, as well as insects and other tiny life forms.
Other Caplio R1V features.
- Shoot video with sound until the SD Memory Card is full.
The Caplio R1V shoots low-noise video (AVI, 30 frame/ sec.) continuously for as long as space is available on the SD Memory Card. Digital zoom lets you get close to the action and sound is recorded in real-time. And the camera can function as a voice recorder for meetings and interviews.
- Auto bracket shoots 3 different exposure levels.
With auto bracket, you press the shutter once and get three shots at three different exposure levels. When you're shooting in complicated exposure conditions, this feature triples your chance of getting the perfect shot.
- White balance bracket for shooting in various light sources.
White balance bracket helps to ensure accurate color reproduction for the specific light source. Settings include auto, daylight, overcast, tungsten light and fluorescent light.
- Record the date and time with any picture.
You can record the date (year/month/day) or date and time (year/ month/ day, hour/ minute) in the right bottom corner of any still image.
