Third Installment of Video Highlights From PhotoPlus Expo 2008
In both part 1 and part 2 of my PhotoPlus Expo wrap-up I included six new video clips from PhotoPlus Expo. In this
final article (part 3) I have include an additional six new video clips - bring the total to 18 product demonstrations
from the show floor. As always, a trade show's location will always benefit some and deter others, so it has been my
goal to bring as much of the show to you as possible - saving you the expense, and the time, of having to get there.
I plan to cover all upcoming trade shows using video and have definitely gained some valuable insight from this experience
at PhotoPlus Expo. I love feedback, so please feel free to
send your comments on any topic or video.
Trek-Tech's Cammock is basically a hammock for your camera gear. It attaches to your tripod and provides a dry, safe place
to keep an extra camera body, lenses, cell phone, etc. The gear you place inside the Cammock also helps to add weight to your
tripod which in turn makes it more stabile. It can quickly be detached from the tripod and used as a rain cover for your camera.
Ken Ouderkirk of Trek-Tech provides a hands-on demonstration. The cammock sells for $24.95.
The new Aqua Tech field jacket has been completely redesigned for 2009. Features include 4 larger pockets on the outside. Two can
hold 70-200mm lenses, and the lower two can hold two large DSLR bodies (aka. Nikon D3 or Canon EOS 1D Mark III). Fully waterproof zippers,
mesh pockets on the inside for press credentials, keys, phone, etc. The shoulders have rubberized pads on each side to prevent camera straps
from slipping. Soft collar prevent chafing when fully zipped. Adjustable and removable hood. Top rear reflector helps to insure your
safety at night. The sleeves are removable and will stay at cuff length even when your arms are bent. New features include flaps to protect
your gear from water even when unzipped. The jacket is available in Taupe, Black, and Camouflage.
Quantum's VP of Marketing, Lorry Rosen, demonstrates the companies new QFlash Trio Wireless Flash. The new Qflash
TRIO QF8 combines a Qflash head with built-in FreeXwire TTL radio and QTTL adapter for your digital camera.
Slip it onto the camera hot-shoe, connect a Turbo, and go. TRIO's radio sends TTL commands to other remote
Qflash TRIO's.
The Trekpod is the ideal stabilization tool for those that like a monopod but would like the added stability of
a tripod - without the bulk. Let's face it. Tripods are clumsy, heavy, and are not allowed everywhere (sporting
events, museums, etc.). While the Trekpod series won't replace the full functionality of a tripod it does provide
the convenience of being small and light while offering great stability for shooting sports (monopod) with the
added convenience of tripod legs that pull out for those times when a still shot is required.
Ken Ouderkirk from Trek-Tech demonstrates the companies latest Trekpod with new Ball head and MagMount.
Demonstration of the Mamiya DL28 Wireless Technology (HD Video)
The 28-megapixel The Mamiya DL28 Medium-Format Digital Camera System offers professional features and benefits found in much more
expensive cameras. its large sensor allows a pixel size of 7.2 microns, producing images with unmatched richness and
color accuracy, low noise, and striking highlight and shadow detail. Its 3.5-inch (diagonal) screen is the largest in
the industry and offers a bright, high-contrast touch screen that is ideal for outdoor or indoor work. At PhotoPlus we were
given a demonstration of how a photographer can shoot with the Mamiya DL28 while sending images "live" to a notebook or iPhone
through wi-fi.
